ISLAMABAD: State Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination Dr. Darshan Tuesday informed the Senate that government had enhanced health budget from Rs 42 billion to Rs 225 billion to provide best health facilities to masses.
The minister stated this while responding to a calling attention notice moved by Senator Mohsin Aziz about the recent report of UNICEF according to which Pakistan has highest new born mortality rate in the world.
He said “this is the report of 2012-13 and the presently the health situation is much better.”
He said that all facilities had been provided to basic health units throughout the country to provide all kinds of medical assistance to new born babies.
He said the government was also conducting a survey for analysis regarding the medical facilities for new born babies throughout the country.
“The report of the survey will be made public in the month of June and the medical facilities will further improve keeping in views the survey report,” he added.
