KARACHI: Mayor of Karachi Wasim Akhtar on Friday visited district Korangi to inspect garbage containers which are prepared by DMC Korangi for removal of garbage and waste.
DMC Korangi Chairman Syed Nayyar Raza, vice Chairman Syed Ahmer Ali and Municipal Commissioner of Korangi and other officers were also present on this occasion, said a statement.
The Mayor said these garbage containers will be put in the islands and around the hospitals and educational instructions so that people of the area can use them and avoid dumping their garbage on roads and other open places.
He said considerable improvement can be seen in district Korangi due to public welfare works and rapid development process.
Garbage and leakage from sewerage lines were main issues in Karachi and inclusion of these small containers in the sanitation fleet of DMC Korangi would help keep the district clean.
Afterwards the Mayor went to Allahwala Town Korangi to review the re-construction of 31A and 31B roads and the removal of encroachments around it.
Residents of the area gathered on this occasion and expressed pleasure on the construction of roads which had been left unattended in the past.
The Mayor said this road lost its width due to establishment of encroachments around it and now after removal of such encroachments this wide raod would provide convenience to the people of this area.
He said that public welfare works being carried out in the larger interest of the city.
