HONG KONG: Hong Kong stocks dropped at the open on Wednesday, tracking a downbeat lead from Wall Street ahead of US Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell’s testimony to Congress.
The Hang Seng Index dropped 1.54 percent, or 301.84, to 19,305.24.
The Shanghai Composite Index slipped 0.35 percent, or 11.33 points, to 3,229.04 in early trade, while the Shenzhen Composite Index on China’s second exchange was down 0.26 percent, or 5.37 points, at 2,075.08.
