Accountability court reserves judgment regarding Sharif's plea

Hearing regarding the corruption cases filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against deposed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Captain (retd) Safdar resumed at an accountability court on Friday.
Sharif’s lawyer had filed an application to the court in which he requested the court to record the statement of Wajid Zia head of the Joint Investigation Team regarding all the three references, local media reported. Judge Mohammed Bashir has reserved his judgment.
During today’s hearing, three witnesses recorded their statements against the accused. Wajid is also expected to record his statement today. The Avenfield properties references will also be heard today.
NAB references against Nawaz: Court adjourns hearing till March 2
On Thursday, the court had recorded testimonies of five witnesses regarding the Al Azizia and Flagship references.
NAB had filed three interim corruption references against the Sharif family last year in September in light of the Supreme Court's July 28 verdict in the Panama Papers case. NAB had also recently filed supplementary references in all three cases.
