Rothschild & Co delegation meets Dar, discusses roadmap for economic recovery

  • Dar expresses commitment to completing IMF programme, according to Finance Division statement

A delegation of Rothschild & Co comprising Eric Lalo, Partner and Thibaud Fourcade, Managing Director called on Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Tuesday, according to a statement issued by the Finance Division.

Minister of State for Finance and Revenue Dr Aisha Ghous Pasha and senior officers participated in the meeting that took place at the Finance Division.

Dar greeted the delegation and shared the economic outlook of the country and said that despite challenging economic situation, the government is steering the economy of the country towards stability and growth.

He shared that as finance minister, he had successfully completed the IMF programme in the past and that the present government is committed to complete the present programme and fulfill all international obligations.

IMF revises Pakistan’s GDP growth projections downward

The Rothschild & Co delegation briefed the Finance Minister on Company’s profile and its financial services provided to various countries across the world. The delegation supported the policy steps taken by the government for sustaining and boosting the fiscal and monetary stability and expressed confidence on achieving sustainable economic development due to pragmatic policies of the government.

The meeting discussed the economic challenges being faced by Pakistan and possible roadmap for economic recovery leading to sustainable growth and development. The delegation was of the view that positives in the economy had to be highlighted vigorously globally.

The finance minister appreciated Rothschild’s positive intentions for the economic prosperity of Pakistan.

@Kamal Hussain, From your perspective it is faulty. But other feel that Pakistan is doing the same with Ahemadies/ Baloch, as India in kasmir, and Isreal in Palestine. Countries do bad things and let them do it. No country is perfect. While raising the issue morally, Pakistan should cunningly and smartly extract as much as you can from these other countries for the uplift and betterment of their own citizens. Look at how UAE has refocussed. Same with Malaysia and Singapore.

The Rothschilds didn't "make" Israel - they supported its creation, but so did all the major western powers. The Rothschilds originated from a small German family in the 18th century which went into banking. All the sons were posted to different parts of the world and set up hugely influential companies, and since then this family has profited hugely. Yes they have supported Israel, but only because it was financially beneficial - their only ideology is money. We desperately need to break free from the anti-Jewish hysteria that goes around on the internet - zionism and Judaism are two very different things. In fact until the mid 60s there was even a small Jewish community living peacefully in Karachi. Furthermore, there's nothing stopping anybody from emulating the Rothschilds; all it took was hard work.

Over the course of seven decades they have brought the country to its knees - they didn't need any help from a shadowy family or global conspiracy. Of course there are powers out there that would love to see Pakistan disappear (one of them lives just next door), but when we fall for these childish conspiracy theories without any evidence whatsoever we're no better than the frenzied crowds who kill anybody under the pretext of blasphemy. Quaid-e-Azam gave us Pakistan through his composure, his intelligence and his dignity - and he was proof that no amount of foreign opposition can stop us. How have we forgotten everything he stood for?

@KhanRA, A couple of observations: - the Nobel prizes are heavily prejudiced in favour of the west - this applies also to the Jewish laureates you mention, most of whom hailed from Europe. - there are actually 13 Muslim laureates, not just one. Of those, two are Pakistani - Professor Abdus Salaam and Malala Yousafzai. To many (including me) they are both national heroes, but as you suggest, they have both also been demonised for different reasons. I do however agree with your fundamental point, that the traditional Islamic culture of learning and tolerance has been forcibly replaced by something else (some examples of which we can see in the other comments here).
