ISLAMABAD: The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) has urged the FBR chairman to remove anomaly in the notification issued by the FBR in respect of composition of anomaly committee. Recently, the FBR issued a notification on composition of anomaly committee- business with Zubair Motiwala as Chairperson of the committee which has created differences in the business community.

The FPCCI, in a letter to the chairman FBR has asked to take cognizance of issued notification by error by assigning the chair of the anomaly committee to person other than president FPCCI.

The FPCCI claims that it has 248 member bodies representing associations of trade, industry and service sectors. The membership of 248 trade bodies in FPCCI included all the CCI’s in Pakistan including Gilgit-Baltistan and joint chambers of commerce and industries. The apex body under the law of land is a licensed body to represent private sector in trade, industry and services of Pakistan. It has top most legislated representative character in which the president FPCCI is chairman of the Board of Directors/Executive Committee members nominated by all the 248 member bodies of Pakistan.

It receives all the budgetary proposals from the member bodies and screens the same for making balance recommendations to the Government of Pakistan, FBR, MOC, MoIP, EDB and also participates in finance committees in National Assembly and Senate.

It also gives extensive analysis of the proposals in pre and post budget. It also receives anomalies out of the announced budget and the leftover pending anomalies generated in the last budget for sending recommendations to the concerned authorities, including in specific for consideration by the FBR.

“We hope the notification may have been issued in relaxation of required rechecking. We would like you to take immediate corrective measures by according the same discipline as is being observed in the public service delivery/ meetings while issuing notifications and considering the private sector business politics hierarchy licenced by the GoP. The notification issued by the FBR may have been by mistake to which we strongly request for needful correction”, said secretary FPCCI, in his letter.
