Faizabad sit in case: IHC adjourns hearing till Feb 27
ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court Monday adjourned hearing in case regarding sit-in of religious parties at Faizabad Interchange against controversy in Khatam-e-Nabuwwat oath in the Election Act 2017, till February 27.
Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui adjourned hearing when an amicus curiae, Prof Dr Hafiz Hassan Madni, Institute of Islamic Studies, University of the Punjab Lahore completed his arguments.
On next hearing Prof Dr Sahibzada Sajid ur Rehman, Member, Council Islamic Ideology would assist the bench on the questions raised by the court.
It is pertinent to mention here that IHC appointed four scholars as amicus curiae to render their assistance in the case.
The scholars included Prof Dr Hafiz Hassan Madni, Institute of Islamic Studies, University of the Punjab Lahore, Dr Mohsin Naqvi, ex-Member, Council of Islamic Ideology, Prof Dr Sahibzada Sajid ur Rehman, Member, Council of Islamic Ideology and Mufti Muhammad Hussain Khalil Khel.
Justice Siddiqui put six questions before the scholars and sought their opinion on it. The questions were as under:
- Whether a Muslim state could make any law which allow a non Muslim to pretend himself as a Muslim.
- Whether a Muslim state can allow a non-Muslim to pretend as Muslim?
- If a person did so then the act would not be considered as cheating.
- If it happened then what responsibility would be raised towards the state.
- Is it not duty of the state to know about the religion of its citizens?
- Is it violation of fundamental right of a citizen to know his religion?
