Year 1999’s sci-fi flick ‘The Matrix’ fans will remember Keanu Reeves’ iconic Nokia 8110 ‘banana phone’ and how badly people wanted to have it. Seems like we will be able to see the 20-year-old phone again since Nokia has decided to bring it back to life as a retro classic.

At the Mobile World Congress, HMD Global, the makers of Nokia smartphones, announced Nokia 8110 4G, their slightly curved, a bit of banana-shaped handset that contains a slider, which lets the user answer and end calls. HMD is recreating the ‘Traditional Black’ and ‘Banana Yellow’ versions of the phone.

Nokia 3310 is back; Here's what it looks like

The phone, however, is a basic feature phone and won’t entertain any Android apps. But according to The Verge, HMD has created an app store for it that incorporates Facebook. Equipped with Qualcomm 205 Mobile Platform processor, the phone also has dual-SIM versions. Being a fairly small phone, it features 512MB RAM and 4GB storage with a 2MP rear camera, FM radio and 25 days battery standby. The good news is, the phone will contain the nostalgic revamped Snake game.

What’s more is that through 4G LTE connectivity, the phone could be used as a 4G wireless hotspot to tether tablets or laptops. It will also allow users to check and sync emails, contacts and calendar events.

The launch of Nokia 8110 is the second revival of Nokia’s classic phone, following last year’s launch of upgraded Nokia 3310. Nokia 8110 will be available in markets by May with a price tag of $97, wrote CNET.
