Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Friday said there was no security lapse in the Kamra terrorist incident and added that no military operation would be launched anywhere in the country under foreign pressure. Interior Minister Rehman Malik while talking media said that nation needed to make joint efforts to foil the terrorists' attempts to destabilise the country.
To a question about military operation in North Waziristan, he said no military operation would be launched under any foreign pressure and that "we will decide about the operation if it is necessary, which would be conducted by the army." Malik said all terrorist activities were being initiated from North Waziristan Agency. "All terrorist groups are in touch with each other and Taliban have provided safe sanctuaries to the criminals from other parts of the country in tribal areas. Taliban are involved in terrorist attack throughout the country", he said.
Malik said Gilgit-Baltistan incident was not sectarian but an act of terrorism. The innocent people were killed in Babusar by Taliban militants, he said, adding that compensation for the bereaved families would be announced soon. He said Kamra and Babusar attacks were part of conspiracy to destabilise the country. He did not rule out possibility of terrorism on the eve of Eid-ul Fitr.
To another question, he said that nuclear assets were safe and defence of the country was in safe hands. After the passage of 18th constitutional amendment‚ maintaining law and order was the responsibility of the provincial governments, he said "All terrorist groups are interlinked and operate in co-ordination with one another and all Taliban are the enemies of Pakistan", he said, adding that Taliban style politics must be discouraged.
