Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi foresees Pakistan Super League (PSL) in the country in next few years and hopes to find new stars from this edition of the league, who will go on to serve the national team in future.

The legendary all-rounder, who served Pakistan for over two decades, is representing Karachi Kings in PSL3 after spending two seasons with defending champions Peshawar Zalmi.

“The real goal for us is to bring the entire PSL to Pakistan and after the World XI tour and Sri Lanka Twenty has raised hopes for more matches in Pakistan and soon there will be a time when the PSL will be held on our grounds and in front of our fans,” said Afridi in an interview.

Afridi was of the view that the real goal of PSL is to groom and unearth local talent. “PSL is our league and its biggest advantage is to identify and mold youngsters for the Pakistan cricket team and that it is going on for the last two years.”

He hoped that Pakistan would find new faces like in previous PSL seasons, which have found stars such as Shadab Khan, Hasan Ali and Fakhar Zaman.

Speaking about Karachi Kings, he said, “We have a balanced combination, have an energetic captain in Imad Wasim and have an experienced personnel in Mickey Arthur, Rashid Latif and Azhar Mahmood. So these utility players and staff can help us win the title.”
