Europe's EGV to manufacture electric buses in Pakistan

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Ministry of Science and Technology and the EGV the largest manufacturer of electric buses in Europe, under which electric buses will run in Islamabad, Karachi, and Lahore.
Addressing the signing ceremony of MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) between the Ministry of Science and Technology and the EGV on electric buses in Islamabad, Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry said that in order to put Pakistan on its feet, science and technology have to be promoted for which universities and industries will work together.
Fawad Chaudhry said that the company EGV is coming to Pakistan to manufacture electric buses, after which a three-wheeled vehicle will be introduced to make it easier for women to travel. In the next three years, Pakistan will be able to compete with India in the Electric Vehicle sector.
The Federal Minister said that electric vehicle charger would also be provided on the motorway soon and the plan to run electric buses would be started from Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi.
He said that over the next three years up to $4 billion would be allocated for the EV industry.
Speaking on the occasion, EGV Chief Executive James Oakley said that the government of Pakistan was working on the Green Pakistan project and Pakistan would be fully supported in introducing electric vehicles in this regard.
