‘Second wave is here’: Islamabad administration imposes lockdown in 10 streets

Islamabad has decided to seal several streets identified as COVID-19 hotspots after the capital city reported its highest single-day rise in cases in the last two months.

Street 46 of F-11/3, Street 23 of F-11/2, Street 58 of 1-8/2, Street 57 of I-8/3, Street 91 of I-8/4, Street 10 in Block D of Media Town, Street 12 of l-10/2, Street 33 of G-11/2, Street 30 of Pakistan Town Phase 1 and Street 35 of G-6/2 have been sealed, Deputy Commissioner Hamza Shafqaat tweeted.

He said that only people with jobs in essential services and with negative Covid certificates will be allowed to leave the area. He added that these streets will be reopened once the health teams give clearance after completing testing, tracing and quarantine of suspected cases.

"Stay Safe Islamabad. Second wave is here," the deputy commissioner tweeted.

On Saturday, the capital city reported its highest single-day rise cases since September after 186 people tested positive on October 23. So far, 19,012 cases and 212 deaths have been reported in Islamabad.
