Pakistan military extend best wishes to UN on its 75th anniversary: ISPR

Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations Major General Babar Iftikhar extending United Nations ‘best wishes’ on its 75th anniversary, said at least 158 Pakistani peacekeepers have sacrificed their lives for global peace.

"Pakistan Armed Forces extend best wishes to UN on its 75th anniversary. Pakistan has contributed over 200,000 troops in 46 UN Missions in 28 countries. 158 Pakistani peacekeepers sacrificed their lives for global peace," tweeted the DG ISPR.

According to the UN, Pakistani troops are currently serving in seven UN operations, with the vast majority of them deployed in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Darfur region of Sudan and the Central African Republic.

It is worth to mention here that Pakistan had joined the peacekeeping mission on September 30, 1947, and the first batch of Pakistani soldiers had been deployed in Congo.

Since then, the country has taken part in joint missions in 28 countries and its peacekeepers including military officers sacrificed their lives.
