The Islamabad High Court on Saturday announced to hear the petition seeking disqualification of Federal Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry for hiding his assets on November 16.

Chief Justice Athar Minallah will hear the case, according to the cause list issued by the Registrar’s Office.

The petitioner, journalist Sami Ibrahim, claimed that the minister did not disclose details of the land he owns in Jhelum while filing his nominating papers for 2018 General Elections. Due to the reason he is no longer ‘sadiq and ameen’ and he should be disqualified.

Both, the minister and journalist are no strangers to each other. A controversy had erupted after Fawad Chaudhary slapped Sami Ibrahim during a wedding ceremony in Faisalabad in June.

Fawad Chaudhry took the stance that anchorperson Sami Ibrahim conducted programs against him, aired pictures of his wife and daughter, and is running a campaign against him on social media.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader said he was abused during the program. The case should be concluded by imposing a fine on the plaintiff to put an end to the blackmailing, he stressed.

Sami Ibrahim maintained that Fawad Chaudhry slapped him in front of FIA DG Bashir Memon, still an FIR was not lodged against the federal minister. Fawad Chaudhry is calling me a blackmailer whereas he himself is corrupt, Sami Ibrahim affirmed.
