KARACHI: EPZ & KCIP Investors' delegation led by Asif Sheikh Javaid, Convener Committee on Export Processing Zones had a detailed meeting with Federal Minister for Industries & Production Muhammad Hammad Azhar & Federal Secretary Ind., Afzal Latif at Islamabad.
The delegation identified the issues being faced by investors of different zones in Pakistan and submitted the possible solutions.
Asif Sheikh Javaid said that only Karachi Export Processing Zone (KEPZ) is working while the other EPZs in Pakistan are still striving hard to survive. He expressed the hope that federal government will take all possible measures to make all these Zones viable with a special focus on KEPZ to make it a model zone and attractive for World Investors.
Hammad Azhar replied that Industrial Growth and boost in Exports with help of Industrial Parks, SEZs and EPZs are in priority list of present government and he will personally look into the matter of EPZs so that the bottlenecks are eliminated and Investors are provided a level playing field to enhance the production capacity.
Asif Sheikh Javaid invited the Federal Minister & Federal Secretary to visit KEPZ. Other delegates namely Waseem Akhtar, Ismail Zakaria, Ali Baloch, Azhar Mohamed, Mustafa Humayun and Mashood Khan also pointed out the issues before the Minister. Federal Minister showed concern over frequent fire incidents in KEPZ.-PR
