OGRA suspends Hascol’s licence for KP

  • OGRA suspended Hascol’s marketing licence for KP and imposed a Rs10 million penalty for illegal/unauthorized storage and sale of its petroleum products at the Amangarh Depot.
Published October 21, 2020 Updated October 21, 2020 07:56pm

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has suspended Hascol Petroleum Limited’s marketing licence for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with immediate effect. A penalty of Rs10 million has also been imposed on the company for illegal and unauthorized storage and sale of petroleum products (petrol & diesel) at the Amangarh Depot.

Based on the investigation and the documents provided by Hascol, it was evident that the company was involved in severe violations of the law and has failed to provide any reasonable justification for the operation of this depot.

The company was also served a show cause notice on the 13th of October, 2020 to explain the facts on its illegal operations at the Amangarh Depot. Despite clear directives issued by OGRA in January 2020 to stop operations at the Amangarh depot till all legal requirements are fulfilled, Hascol failed to abide by the law.

Hence, Hascol’s marketing activities and sales at outlets in KP are suspended until further orders. In order to avoid shortage of fuel, all oil marketing companies (OMCs) are directed to augment supplies to their retail outlets in KP.
