Pakistan summons Indian diplomat to protest recent ceasefire violations across LoC
- India has committed 2530 ceasefire violations to date, FO said.
Pakistan summoned on Thursday a senior Indian diplomat and condemned the deplorable targeting of innocent civilians by the Indian occupation forces along the Line of Control (LoC).
Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri registered a strong protest at the ceasefire violations by Indian forces in Jandrot Sector of the LoC on October 14, due to which 25-year-old Sufiyan and Muhammad Rafaqat, 28, sustained serious injuries.
According to a press release by the Foreign Office (FO), India has committed 2530 ceasefire violations to date, resulting in 19 deaths and serious injuries to 197 innocent civilians.
Pakistan underscored that such senseless acts are in clear violation of the 2003 Ceasefire Understanding, and violations of international law. FO said these Indian attempts to escalate the situation along the LoC are a threat to regional peace and security.
"By raising tensions along the LoC and the Working Boundary (WB), India cannot divert attention from the grave human rights situation in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK)," FO stated.
Pakistan also called upon the Indian side to respect the 2003 Ceasefire Understanding. India was also urged that it should permit the United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan to play its mandated role as per the United Nations Security Council.
