Coronavirus outbreak: Education minister refutes news about closure of schools

(Karachi) Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood has refuted news circulating on social media that educational institutions would be closed across the country from October 15 due to a rise in coronavirus cases.
In a tweet on Monday, he said, “Fake news being circulated on social media that educational institutions will be closed on Oct 15. No truth in this”.

Educational institutions opened in phases across the country on September 15. However, some schools were closed and sealed after many children tested positive for coronavirus, especially in Punjab and Sindh.
The government asked management of educational institutions to follow corona SOPs and guidelines to contain spread of the virus.
