KARACHI: Governor Sindh Muhammad Zubair on Tuesday inaugurated the new constituent hospital of the Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) at DHA City, Superhighway.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Corps Commander Karachi, Lieutenant General Shahid Baig Mirza, Vice Chancellor, DUHS, Prof Dr Muhammad Saeed Quraishy, Administrator DHA City, Brigadier Shahid Hassan Ali, Registrar DUHS Prof Dr Amanullah Abbasi and others.
Governor said, “The hospital not only offers quality healthcare services not only for DHA citizens but also to patients of other areas.
He said this new hospital is incepted to extend and promote the frontiers of medical education and services with the latest and advanced technology and medical equipment focusing the betterment of the country and eliminating health risk problems at every aspect of life.”
He further said that this new campus of Dow University will help doors to the students who find it difficult to travel and study at the Dow Medical College that stands in the old city area.
This location would be preferable for the students who belong to the rural areas of Sindh. Prof Saeed Quraishy said this is a moment of pride for the Dow University to be able to provide high-quality health care system by skilled doctors and medical specialists and impart medical education teaching and clinical training in the DHA City as a joint venture.
He informed that hospital currently has a dispensary (OPD) and an ambulance service, which will soon be followed by a Medical Centre and a secondary care hospital and will finally be culminating into a full-fledged medical college affiliated to a teaching hospital.
The Governor of Sindh Muhammad Zubair formally opened the new Dow University Hospital at DHA City Campus by unveiling a plaque.
