Fair, free elections will be held in Gilgit-Baltistan on Nov 15, says Gandapur
- Minister says despite coronavirus pandemic and economic crisis, the government increased GB's budget for its development
(Karachi) Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Ali Amin Gandapur has said that fair and free elections will be held in Gilgit-Baltistan on November 15.
Addressing a press briefing on Monday, he said that despite coronavirus pandemic and economic crisis, the government increased GB's budget for its development.
He stated that the government believes in democracy and is committed to hold free and fair elections in the region.
Regarding Kashmir issue, he said that JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman minted money in the name of Kashmiri people. Gandapur said, "Fazlur Rehman issued a wrong statement that a deal is being made on Kashmir."
He pointed out the opposition leaders did not attend the GB reforms meeting that reflects their lack of interest in the region.
Speaking on the occasion, Information Minister Shibli Faraz said that in the coming days GB will be the economic base camp of Pakistan. "Gilgit-Baltistan holds key importance in terms of economic prosperity."
