(Karachi) Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa is the first province where Sehat Insaf Cards will be provided to all families.

Addressing the launching ceremony of the programme in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday, he said that despite facing difficulties and economic crisis, coming up with such a scheme is a big step.

He added, "The family having the card will be able to get free medical treatment worth one million rupees at government and private hospitals."

The PM maintained that the programme aims to facilitate the poor and deserving segments of the society who cannot afford expensive medical treatment. He said the scope of the Sehat Insaf Card programme will widen so that every family benefits from this facility.

"It will create pressure on government-run hospitals to provide better facilities to the people," he sated.

Under the programme, medical treatment will be provided to 4,998,718 families of K-P. At least, 27 public and 59 private hospitals will be a part of the scheme, which will be implemented through the State Life Corporation.

As part of the new plan, the Sehat Insaf Card will give free-of-cost coverage for HIV/AIDS and all types of cancers.

The programme will offer medical coverage worth Rs400,000 per family for tertiary care diseases, which would cover the treatment of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, emergency and trauma, all kinds of fractures, head and spinal injuries as well as joint replacement surgeries.
