LAHORE: Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Vice Chairman Sheikh Muhammad Imran has said that procedure for sanction of private housing schemes had been simplified and now a scheme would be approved within 30 days.

He expressed these views during a meeting with Walid Mushtaq, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Belarus, here on Wednesday. On the occasion, they discussed matters pertaining to the development of the city and other issues of mutual interest. Prospects for benefiting from Belarus's experience in the fields of town planning and investment were also reviewed.

The Vice Chairman told the Honorary Consul that a deadline of 30 days had been set for approving building plans for new buildings and completion certificates for buildings were also being issued within 30 days.

"To encourage construction of high rise buildings in the city, building and zoning regulations was approved for encouraging construction of high rise buildings in the city besides framing Land Use Rules 2020 for giving boost to commercial and economic activities by allowing conversion of plots for different commercial/industrial uses," he said.

He informed the guest about the legislation introduced by LDA for facilitating the people and the measures taken by LDA for encouraging construction sector in line with the vision of the Prime Minister of Pakistan.

Meanwhile, the Development Working Party of LDA decided to seek approval from the LDA governing body for the preparation of PC-1 for construction of 35,000 residential units under the banner of LDA City Naya Pakistan Apartments. It also decided to send Revised PC-1 amounting Rs 47 billion for development of infrastructure in the LDA City housing scheme for formal approval by the governing body.

Moreover, the LDA approved 576 plans for permitting constructions of new building in the city besides allowing addition and alteration in 162 existing structures during a period of recent three months. Completion Certificates have also been issued to 59 new buildings during this period.
