ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President and opposition leader in the National Assembly Shahbaz Sharif in his meeting with Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Yao Jing has said that Pakistan and China are two reliable strategic cooperative partners, iron brothers, and ambassadors of peace.
According to Marriyum Aurangzeb, the PML-N spokesperson, Shahbaz Sharif was warmly welcomed on his arrival at the embassy by the Chinese envoy and other officials. During his talks with the Chinese envoy, Shahbaz said Chinese President Xi Jinping had played an exemplary role for regional peace, and the people of China were lucky to have such a leader.
He said the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) was a fate-changer and a game-changer that was crucial for the alleviation of poverty in the region. He said the project would play a key role in the post-pandemic world's economic revival. "Pakistan is fortunate to have such a sincere friend like China, who fought an exemplary battle against the new coronavirus and helped Pakistan as well," Shahbaz said.
The PML-N president also praised and welcomed China's "far-sighted" policy and cooperation for peace in Afghanistan.
According to the PML-N spokesperson, the Chinese envoy said, the "PML-N worked with excellent pace and spirit on the CPEC and development projects in Punjab during its tenure in government.
"He [Yao] appreciated the services of Shahbaz Sharif for CPEC and strengthening the ties and friendship between the two countries," Aurangzeb further maintained.
She said that Yao also stated that CPEC was a nation-to-nation cooperation project between China and Pakistan, and he appreciated the support by all the political parties of Pakistan including of the PML-N.
"He also appreciated Shahbaz Sharif's contribution to the China-Pakistan friendship," she maintained.
She stated that the Chinese envoy said the increasing liaison between the PML-N and the Communist Party of China was admirable.
He thanked Shahbaz for visiting and expressed his well wishes. "Shahbaz conveyed the well wishes of the PML-N and the people of Pakistan for President Xi Jinping, Chinese leadership and nation," she said, adding that he also lauded the vibrant services of the envoy for strengthening the ties between the two nations.
