KARACHI: Sindh Excise department on Saturday claimed to have foiled an attempt to smuggle substantial quantity of hashish from Balochistan to Karachi.

According to details, the action was taken on a tip-off which revealed that some unscrupulous elements were planning to transport huge quantity of hashish to Karachi from Balochistan.

Reacting on this information, the Excise department has mounted strict vigilance at its Jacobabad post.

As a result, a Suzuki Mehran car bearing number BCC-325 was intercepted at Jacobabad checkpost. After thorough examination, the excise team has recovered substantial quantity of hashish worth millions in international market.

An accused Fazlur Rehman, who was transporting hashish to Karachi, was arrested. He was a resident of Mastung.

Consequent upon the recovery, a case has been registered against him and further investigation is in progress.

On the successful operation, Provincial Minister for Excise & Taxation and Narcotics Control & Parliamentary Affairs Mukesh Kumar Chawla congratulated the officers and directed them to continue the crackdown in order to prevent inter-provincial drugs smuggling.
