Cops kill citizen, injure another assuming them as robbers
- Eyewitnesses say the victims were unarmed and were talking to each other when the cops opened fired on them
(Karachi) A man was shot dead while another suffered injuries when Karachi police personnel opened fire assuming them as robbers at I.I Chundrigar Road, media reported on Friday.
As per details, both victims were friends who were meeting along roadside when cops of Methardar police station opened fire assuming them as bandits. The victims were traveling on a bike when the police party asked them to stop.
The police claimed that both men were robbers, however, eyewitnesses said the victims were unarmed and were talking to each other when the cops opened fired on them.
Later, one injured identified as Aslam scummed to his bullet injuries and another identified as Waqar is under treatment. Three police personnel involved in the incident have been arrested while further investigation is under way.
Taking notice of the matter, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) South Javed Akbar Riaz has also sought a detailed report of the incident.
