LAHORE: Provincial Industries & Trade Minister Mian Aslam Iqbal met with a delegation of Punjab artists, producers, theatre association headed by Chairman Qaiser Sanaullah Khan.
The delegation members apprised the minister about economic constraints of artists and the people linked with theatre activities due to closure of theatre business. They informed him that artists living a very miserable life due to closure of theatres and urged him to grant permission for their opening. They assured to ensure full implementation on the SOPs issued by the government. They regretfully remarked that those who amused the masses and distributed happiness among them are themselves going through mental agony and distress due to continuous closure of theatres. They appealed to the minister to accord his permission for opening the theatres before the arrival of Muharram so that they can earn livelihood for their children.
On this occasion, the minister said the government is fully aware of their difficulties. He highlighted that artists are the precious asset of our society and emphasized that it is responsibility of the government to resolve their due problems.
Aslam Iqbal maintained that he would put up the matter of opening theatres before the NCOC meeting. He assured them to make his all possible endeavour for opening of theatres before August 14.
The minister stressed that the government would take up further measures for their well-being. The delegation members included Rashid Mehmood, Iftikhar Tkakor, Sarfraz Vicky and others.
