KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 78,203 tonnes of cargo comprising 49,941 tonnes of import cargo and 28,262 tonnes of export cargo including 5,307 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday.

The total import cargos of 49,941 tonnes comprised of 44,810 tonnes of containerised cargo; 4,231 tonnes of general cargo and 900 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 28,262 tonnes comprised of 22,251 tonnes of containerised cargo; 5,711 tonnes of bulk cargo and 300 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 5,307 containers comprising of 2,416 containers of import and 2,891 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,367 of 20's and 474 of 40's loaded while 47 of 20's and 27 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 561 of 20's and 302 of 40's loaded containers while 316 of 20's and 705 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were nine ships namely Hyundai Prestige, Thorsky, MSC China, safeen Tiger, MT Karachi, Chemroad Echo, Bochem Mumbai, RCC Europe and Taurus Leader carrying containers, oil tanker and chemical respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were eight vessels carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 123,232 tonnes comprising of 108,803 tonnes of import cargo and 14,429 tonnes of export cargo including 3,480 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday.

The total import cargo of 108,803 tonnes includes 44,400 tonnes of LNG; 10,000 tonnes of coal; 6,250 tonnes of palm oil; 16,980 tonnes of gas oil; 2,100 tonnes of MEG; 3,350 tonnes of LPG; 2,150 tonnes of project cargo and 26,923 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 14,429 tonnes includes 3,238 tonnes of cement and 11,191 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 3,480 containers comprising of 1,876 containers import and 1,604 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

There were no ships sail out to sea on Monday.

A total number of seven ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, project cargo, coal, canola, LPG and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as seven vessels viz. MSC Chiara, Gwen, Africa Paza, Nord Merker, Till Jocob, BW Amazon and Asia Inspire carrying containers, project cargo, cement, mogas, gas oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were four ships viz. MSC Chiara, Gwen, BW Amazon and Asia Inspire carrying containers, project cargo, mogas and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Monday.

There was no ship due to arrive on Monday.
