KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 127,357 tonnes of cargo comprising 75,409 tonnes of import cargo and 51,948 tonnes of export cargo including 7,089 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargos of 75,409 tonnes comprised of 55,765 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,419 tonnes of general cargo; 5,734 tonnes of bulk cargo; and 12,191 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 51,948 tonnes comprised of 30,656 tonnes of containerised cargo; 18,842 tonnes of bulk cargo and 2,450 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 7,089 containers comprising of 3,783 containers of import and 3,306 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 945 of 20's and 1,385 of 40's loaded while 56 of 20's and 06 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 480 of 20's and 873 of 40's loaded containers while 14 of 20's and 533 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were six ships namely Botany Bay, OOCL Chicago, APL Chongqing, Wieland, Louis-P and Al Mahboobah carrying containers, oil tanker and chemical respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were seven vessels carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 119,873 tonnes comprising of 89,397 tonnes of import cargo and 30,476 tonnes of export cargo including 3,480 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargo of 89,397 tonnes includes 17,907 tonnes of coal; 5,936 tonnes of phosphoric acid; 18,667 tonnes of furnace oil; 6,500 tonnes of soyabean; 3,350 tonnes of LPG; 1,393 tonnes of project cargo and 35,644 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 30,476 tonnes includes 30,476 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 3,480 containers comprising of 1,876 containers import and 1,604 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

There were three ships namely APL New York, DA Kang and Marvel carrying containers, general cargo and furnace oil respectively sail out to sea on Thursday morning.

A total number of eleven ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, project cargo, coal, soyabean, chemical, LPG, furnace oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as twelve vessels viz. CMA CGM Titus, Silver Lucky, Gwen, Chayanee Naree, Fredica Oldendroff, Stove Ocean, White Fin, Tiger Winter, Till Jocob, BW Amazon, Al-Salam-II and Gulf Horizon carrying containers, general cargo, steel coil, project cargo, coal, cement, chemical, mogas and gas oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were six ships viz. CMA CGM Titus, Lisa, Chayanee Naree, Fredica Oldendroff, Maran Gas Delphi and Al-Salam-II carrying containers, steel coil, coal, LNG and gas oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Engro Elengy Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Thursday.

There were two ships namely Lisa and Maran Gas Delphi carrying containers and LNG respectively due to arrive on Thursday.
