LAHORE: Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmad has announced that the chance of those students who do not want to appear in the upcoming online annual examination for BA/BSc Part-II and other associate degrees would remain intact which they could avail when the varsity would arrange conventional examination.

"The chance of those students who did not want to participate in the upcoming online annual exams would remain intact and such students could appear in conventional examinations whenever the varsity would conduct," the VC said while addressing a press conference here on Monday.

He was flanked by Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Saleem Mazhar, Online Teaching and Examination Committee Convener Prof Dr Kamran Abid, Controller of Examinations Rauf Nawaz, Deputy Controllers Khuram Inayat, Mohsin Bilal, Raana Qaiser besides other seniors.

While announcing that the annual online examinations for BA/BSc/Associate Degrees in Arts/Science Part 2 will be held from August 5, 2020, the VC said the students who do not able to participate in the online examinations due to any reason are free to make their choice, adding the varsity has adopted a pro-students policy and giving preference to the interests of students. He said the PU Department of Examinations is ensuring foolproof arrangements to conduct the online exams and the students are being guided through social media. As per the plan, one proctor would keep a "vigilant eye" on 25 students at a time while one superintendent would look after 25 proctors, he added. He said the PU administration had dedicated three computer labs for the teams conducting online exams, adding that they had tested the online examination system by taking "mock" exams of various degrees.

Controller of Examinations Rauf Nawaz said that out of 80,000 students, around 60,000 students had shown their willingness and got themselves registered for the online examinations. He added that a specific system has been developed through which the varsity would monitor the students and proceed against candidates using unfair means during examination.
