ISLAMABAD: Chairman Pakistan People's Party Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari on Saturday described law minister (Barrister Farogh Naseem) as a lawyer for Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav.

"Our new 'Sharifuddin Pirzada' [Federal Minister for Law Farogh Naseem] says that he is working according to the International Court of Justice (ICJ), so why has the federal government approached a court in support of Kulbhushan Jadhav? Imran Khan and his 'Sharifuddin Pirzada' say that they did not need to talk to the opposition, so now they cannot pass the legislation without the opposition. The Constitution says that any ordinance should be brought to the National Assembly as soon as possible and the National Assembly was in session in May, June and July but this government did not bring this ordinance. This is a violation of the Constitution," the PPP chairman expressed these views, while addressing a news conference at Zardari's House Islamabad on Saturday.

The chairman PPP said the Supreme Court ruling was that no person-specific legislation could be done but this government had the name of Kulbhushan Jadhav in this ordinance, which makes it person-specific.

He said the government had 60 days' time to present this legislation in the National Assembly, and during this time, neither the government nor Kulbhushan took any benefit from this.

"Now this is the second effort by this government to introduce a person-specific legislation. The PPP has never compromised on national interest, human rights and international laws. This government did not contact the opposition because this is a puppet government. For important legislations, consensus has to be built," he said.

The PPP chairman said, "Imran Khan had said that he would not give relief (NRO) to anyone but he introduced the biggest amnesty for the corrupt. There is corruption in every project such as the BRT, Malam Jabba and Billion Tree Tsunami. There is a clear case against the ministers and advisors who have declared their assets recently and a case of assets beyond means could easily be initiated against them."

He claimed that the "selected" Prime Minister Imran Khan had given National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) to every kind of thief from the "sugar to wheat and from oil to Kulbhushan Jadhav".

The PPP chairman said the PTI government turned "every crisis into a catastrophe".

He said that it had not fulfilled a single promise made in its manifesto.

"Corruption was not eliminated in 90 days, South Punjab province was not made in 100 days, not a single house was built of the promised five million houses, and not a single job was made available despite promising 10 million new jobs.

"This government has rendered people homeless and millions have been laid off. The PTI manifesto had promised devolution but in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Punjab and Balochistan, local governments have been sent packing by the PTI. Sindh is the only province where local governments are still working and will complete their tenure in August this year. Police IGs are continuously changed in the KP, Punjab and Islamabad, and the IG in Islamabad was changed just because cattle had entered a house of a minister," he claimed.

He said that Imran Khan had to change the PM's House and governor's houses into universities but he did not.

"He was supposed to travel on a bicycle but is using a helicopter. Imran Khan has taken a u-turn on all of his promises. He is ruling the country in the time of a pandemic, which has put every Pakistani's health and life in danger," he said.

Responding to questions, the PPP chairman said that "we demand a level-playing field for every political party".

He said the PPP had always fulfilled is responsibility as opposition.

He said that Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto fulfilled the responsibility of opposition with only 17 PPP seats in the National Assembly.

He said that, "we had accepted 2008 election results as protest".

He said, "The government is bringing fake JITs against us and we are also facing the NAB. Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is also playing its role as opposition and the leader of opposition will preside over the All Parties Conference (APC) of opposition parties, which will be held after Eidul Azha."

He said he had a very detailed discussion with Akhtar Mengal about the issues facing Pakistan and would ask opposition leader Shehbaz Sharif to invite Akhtar Mengal to formally join the opposition.

He said, "Now the entire Pakistan and the people of Pakistan are on one page that this "selected" Imran Khan has to go.

The PPP chairman has said that the "rigged" general elections of 2018 had damaged the country more than any other event in its history.

"On this day, a "selection" took place, which has caused a great damage to the country and undermined its democratic system," he said.
