ISLAMABAD: The Accountability Court hearing multi-billion rupees fake bank accounts case involving former president Asif Ali Zardari has declared three accused absconder and proclaimed offender.

According to the Accountability Court order, three accused named Nimar Majid, Ali Kamal Majeed, and Pir Dervesh Khan are avoiding their lawful arrest despite non-bailable warrant of arrest and proclamation under Section 87 CrPC. In the case of all three accused, who are declared absconder and proclaimed offender, evidence will be recorded in their absentia. Perpetual warrant of arrest be issued against all the three accused, and proceedings under Section 88 CrPC be initiated against them separately.

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has directed to block their CNICs and furnish report in this regard or before the next date of hearing.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had nominated accused named Nimar Majid and Ali Kamal Majeed in the corruption reference pertaining to misappropriation of subsidy given to sugarcane growers.

The bureau filed the reference against the accused over charges of embezzlement of millions of funds issued by the government of Sindh to sugar mills as a subsidy for onward payment to sugarcane farmers.

The Sindh government through provincial cane commissioner paid Rs3.9 billion to different sugar mills for onward payment to genuine sugarcane growers as subsidy on account of supply of sugarcane for the season 2014-2015.
