Polio drive kicks off in Karachi

KARACHI: The Emergency Operation Centre (EOC) for Polio Sindh on Monday launched 2nd polio campaign of 2018 in Karachi city o and drive will continue from February 19 to February 23, 2018.

Approximately 2.4 million children under five-year of age would be administrated people drops during the drive, while 12,000 polio teams are taking part in the campaign and 5,000 people personnel have been deployed.

Coordinator, ECO Sindh Fayaz Jaoti said: “We are in good position to eradicate polio as environment samples in northern Sindh are negative are also clearing up in Karachi. He said we have come a long way to achieve historically low cases but more work need to be done and we must improve further”.

He said teams must continue their hard work and parent must come forward to vaccinate their children to save them from the scourge of polio. No child should suffer from a vaccine preventable disease and it is our collective responsibility to make sure all children are vaccinated so we have a healthy future for our generation.

Earlier, Emergency Operation Centre for Polio had conducted a polio campaign in all districts of Sindh except Karachi last week and vaccinated about 6.3million children across the province.
