Commecs College celebrated "International Library Day" on Tuesday, February 21, 2012. Professor Farhat Hussain of the Department of Library and Information Sciences, University of Karachi graced the occasion as the chief guest, whereas Ms Rubina Feroz, Chairperson Department of Psychology, University of Karachi, was present as the guest of honour.
The main highlight of the event was a "Book Review Competition" in which the students presented some wonderful books with very relevant themes and moral to create awareness about the importance of reading and libraries. The first prize of the competition was given to the students of Jamil Room for their review on the book "Parallel Worlds", by Michio Kaku. Whereas, the second and the third prizes went respectively to the students of Vohra and UDL Rooms for their books "Aangan" by Khadija Mastoor and "Those in Peril", by Wilbur Smith. The special prize was given to the students of Crescent Room for their book "The Tiger's Wife", by Tea Obreht. At the conclusion of the programme, shields were presented to the chief guest and the guest of honour by Muhammad Arif Dossal, Executive Director CET and Acting Principal, Sohail Farooqui.-PR
