In order to discuss many pending issues, Sindh Revenue Board's (SRB) two-member team comprised on Member (Tax Policy) and Member (SS and A) would meet with officials of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on February 28, 2012.
Official sources told Business Recorder on Thursday that SRB's two-member team comprised on Mushtaq Kazmi Member (Tax Policy) and Akhtar Jamil Member (SS & A) would visit Islamabad on February 28, 2012, and they would meet with Chairman FBR, Member (IR) and Chief (ST& FE). SRB's Members/ Commissioners/ Consultants are requested to make brief of all issues which would be discussed with FBR officials during scheduled meeting, sources told.
Sources told that SRB team would ask authorities of FBR to return Rs 1.4 billion, which FBR had collected from Sindh province in the mode of Federal Excise Duty (FED) of June 2011, in July 2011, and Rs 1.4 billion, which also had been collected in the mode of FED during the months of August and September. SRB had asked to FBR to return said amount on many occasions while, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah had written a letter to Federal Finance Minister Abdul Hafiz Shaikh in this regard but FBR had not returned the said amount to Sindh government despite passage of more than six months, sources told.
The SRB team would discuss the technical matters with officials of FBR related to services rendered in more than two provinces, input adjustments and other long-standing technical issues, sources told.
