Activity at Karachi and Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 86,176 tonnes of cargo comprising1 49,298 tonnes of import cargo and 36,878 tonnes of export cargo including 1,276 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 49,298 tonnes comprised of 1,871 tonnes of containerised cargo; 465 tonnes of general cargo; 20,962 tonnes of bulk cargo: 15,110 tonnes of coal; 5,852 tonnes of canola seeds and 26,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 36,878 tonnes comprised of 18,204 tonnes of containerised cargo; 100 tonnes of general cargo; 2,424 tonnes of cement and 16,150 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. Four ships namely Uru Bhum, MOL Wind, Victorious Ace and Shamrock Venus with two container ships, one vehicles carrier and one ethanol ship respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
One vehicles carrier viz Victorious Ace is currently at the berth. Three ships namely Star Sea Rainbow, Constancy and UACC Ibn Al-Ather with one coal carrier, one ethanol ship and one naphtha ship sailed out to sea on Tuesday, while another ship namely Al-Salam-II with HSD oil tanker is expected to sail on Wednesday.
One container vessel viz Hermes due to arrive on Tuesday, while six vessels viz President Adams, Cap Verde, APL Brisbane, Angelica Schulte, Lodestar Genesis and UBC Cyprus with three container ships, one LSF oil tanker, one chemicals carrier and one cement carrier respectively are due to arrive on Wednesday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 53,785 tonnes comprising import cargo and 733 loaded & empty containers (TEUs) were handled at Port Qasim during last 24 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 53,785 tonnes includes 18,872 tonnes of furnace oil; 460 tonnes of general cargo; 4,700 tonnes of chemicals; 14,360 tonnes of coal and 15,393 tonnes of containerised cargo.
A general cargo ship namely MV HHL Nile sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while another ship namely MV Norgas Petaluma with urea is expected to sail on the same day afternoon. A total number of seven CV MSC Reunion, MV Florida-II, HHL Nile, Arrilah, MV Norgas Petaluma, MV Ever Shining and MT Karachi are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, general cargo, urea, chemicals, coal and furnace oil respectively during last 24 hours.
As many as three ships namely Lion, MT Qubaa and Athina with rice, furnace oil and diesel oil respectively are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. A rice carrier namely Lion is expected to take berth at Grain & Fertiliser Terminal (FAP) on Tuesday.
