Flood victims in Sindh: Iran to spend $80 million for rebuilding houses

Iranian Government will spend $80 million to rebuild houses of the flood victims in Sindh, a spokesperson of National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) revealed. An Iranian delegation headed by Managing Director Housing Society arrived in Pakistan on Friday.
The Iranian official said that the Iranian government would spend $80 million to rebuild houses damaged by the flood in Sindh province. He added that the Iranian government would keep on helping Pakistan in this hour of need. He said that Russia has also sent relief consignment for flood affected people including tents, dewatering pumps, water purifiers, blankets and food items.
NDMA spokesperson Irshad Bhatti said that about Rs 2.1 million people have so far been checked in the medical camps established by the government in the flood-hit areas of Sindh. He said to avoid spreading of epidemics in the flood-affected areas corpuses of dead animals were being removed by the Irrigation Department of Sindh. He added the almost 4 million living animals were vaccinated in different flood-hit districts of Sindh.
He said that army and the Irrigation Department, Sindh have started operation to improve canals and drainage system in 23 flood-affected districts. NDMA spokesperson told Business Recorder that the people have started taking shelter alongside watercourse and this was hindering sanitation process in the province. He said the authorities concerned have started sending people living along canals and rivers to safer places.
