Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has directed that training of doctors should be arranged on war footing in all dengue virus affected districts of the province and establishment of a separate institution for this purpose should also be considered.
He said that special teams are being sent to Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Multan, Rawalpindi and Sheikhupura from Lahore, which will review the provision of treatment facilities to the dengue fever patients in the hospitals and provide necessary training and guidance to the doctors of these districts.
He was presiding over a meeting to review the steps taken for eradication of dengue virus, here on Saturday. Members National and Provincial Assembly, Chief Secretary, secretaries of various departments and experts attended the meeting. Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister said that the efforts being made by the elected representatives, officers and experts round the clock for serving to ailing humanity and eradication of dengue virus are commendable.
He said had the same spirit demonstrated for the development and prosperity of the country during the last 64 years, the country would not have been facing this situation and not been plunged in darkness. He said that all resources are being utilised for provision of treatment facilities to the dengue patients and elimination of dengue virus. Fogging and spray system has also been made effective and the process of conducting spray in houses at union council level is continuing.
He said that the used imported tyres and the tyres lying in open places are the hot beds of breeding of dengue virus. He directed that the spray should be ensured on the tyres lying in godowns and open places throughout the province and in the second phase a plan should be evolved for shifting these godowns outside the cities and the transport department should give a briefing in this regard within next two days.
He said that redressal of complaints being received on helpline should be ensured within 48 hours and an effective system of monitoring should be evolved for this purpose. He said that the model adopted for eradication of dengue virus in Lahore should be enforced in all districts of the province.
