Aptma dispatches relief goods for flood victims

All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (Aptma) has dispatched its first consignment of relief goods for the flood affectees. Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Tariq Saud, Chairman Aptma Sindh Balochistan Region and head of the association's Flood Relief Committee said that Aptma was working ceaselessly with high spirit for the help of flood affectees.
"We have planned to carryout a comprehensive relief work including distribution of ration to the flood affectees and our priority is to reach out those areas, where relief activities has not yet been started and affectees are still waiting for relief," he added.
As announced earlier and assurance given to the President of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari by Gohar Ejaz, Central Chairman Aptma during his meeting in Karachi the Aptma will distribute food and other essential items valuing Rs 50 million among 25,000 flood affected families of Sindh to share the sufferings of our affected brethren, he added.
He said that Aptma Flood Relief Committee was fully engaged in the relief work for the last two weeks and by the grace of Allah Almighty on Thursday Aptma has dispatched its first consignment comprising six trucks of relief goods to the flood affected areas of Badin and its surroundings.
"The relief goods containing 150 tents and about 1,650 hampers of floor, sugar, tea, milk powder, rice, biscuits, Dal Channa, cooking oil, salt, match box, cooking pan, mosquito quill, water purifying tablets, etc and one hamper would be sufficient for a family of 5- 6 members for 13-15 days," he added.
He said that another consignment of 10 trucks from Punjab and eight trucks from Karachi containing the relief goods will be sent to the flood affected areas tomorrow. While third and fourth consignment of six and 10 trucks with relief good including 500 tents will be dispatched from Karachi and Lahore, respectively next week. Tariq said that Aptma would send altogether 90 trucks of relief goods to the flood affected areas of Sindh.
