Former member National Assembly, Marvi Memon, said that Sindh province could have been saved from the present catastrophe had the Flood Inquiry Commission's recommendations been implemented in letter and spirit. Marvi held Sindh government responsible for the colossal losses caused to infrastructure and crops in Sindh, saying that the provincial government miserably failed to implement the recommendations of the commission.
Earlier, Supreme Court (SC) had taken suo motu notice of the breaches in dykes and unauthorised diversion of floodwaters by influential people to save their lands in 2010 floods, whereas Marvi Memon had also been a petitioner on the matter. The commission released a comprehensive report on June 7, 2011 in the pursuance of the apex court orders and the SC had directed the federal and provincial governments to ensure implementation of the commission's recommendations and take strict action against the responsible officials, whose negligence had caused billions of rupees losses to the national kitty.
While talking to media persons at Supreme Court (SC) Marvi held Sindh government responsible for all the losses in the province, as it failed to implement the recommendations of the commission. Marvi Memon revealed that she had submitted evidences and proofs in the apex court relating to the responsible persons behind the colossal losses during the present floods in the country.
