The unabated spate of targeted killings on Saturday claimed the lives of 13 more persons including the activists of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Sunni Tehreek (ST) and a cop in separate incidents at various parts of the metropolis.
According to the details, two brothers Sadaqat, 32, son of Ali Mohammad and his younger brother Murtaza, 22, were shot dead while sitting at their van (JE-5712) in Bismillah stop, Manghopir road in Pak Colony police remits. Police said the victims, who hailed from Badin were transporters.
Two bullet-riddled bodies of youth were found near Malir River within the jurisdiction of Korangi Industrial Area police station. Police said the victims were killed after having been tortured. An activist of MQM was shot dead at Baba Wilayat Ali Shah Colony Orangi Town in the precincts of Iqbal Market police station. The victim 32-year-old Mohammad Zahid son of Mohammad Saeed was targeted while standing outside his home at Chishti Nagar Baba Wilayat Ali Shah Colony sector 11 Orangi Town. Police said the victim, who was the activist of MQM unit 118-A, used to run a cable business in the area where he resided. No case was registered till filing of this report.
A cop was gunned down near Ranchore Line cloth Market within the remits of Nabi Bux police station. The victim Abdul Rahim son of Deen Mohammad, a resident of Kalakot Police Lane, was killed by unknown assailants when he was on the way to home from work. He was deployed at Darakhshan police station as head constable, police said. The funeral process of the victim was offered at Garden Headquarters where high officials of Sindh police were also present. A 55-year-old Ghulam Rabbani son of Haji Khan was gunned down near Safora Chowrangi within the limits of Gulistan-e-Jauhar police station.
An activist of ST was also shot dead while a passer-by got injured at Godhra Colony within the jurisdiction of New Karachi Industrial Area police station. Police said the victim Asif son of Niaz, a resident of sector 5-G New Karachi was assaulted when he was standing along with his friend Shahzad. Resultantly both received bullet injuries. Police shifted them to ASH for treatment where Asif succumbed to his injuries. Tension engulfed in several parts of New Karachi where heavy aerial firing was reported after the said incident.
One 23-year-old Umair son of Waseem Ahmed was shot dead at Khurramabad, Landhi. Police said the deceased was a washing machine mechanic and was killed after being kidnapped. Yet another man Gul Shah, 44, son of Ameen was killed near Timber market at Landhi 89. Police said the victim, who hailed from Waziristan, was living at Gulberg. A man was killed at Usmanabad area. The identity of victim was yet to be ascertained while police found his body near Garden Medical Centre Usmanabad. Police said the victim had also several torture marks and added that he appeared to be Balochi speaking. The body was shifted to CHK for legal formalities and later moved to Edhi Morgue.
