The government will present some important bills in forthcoming session of the National Assembly to be held on August 1, 2011, it is learnt. According to National Assembly Secretariat sources, Legal Prosecutor and Bar Council Bill, 2011, Islamabad Consumer Protection Amendment Bill, 2007, Defence Housing Authority Amendment Bill, 2007 and the Private Power Infrastructure Board Bill, 2010 would be presented in the house for approval.
Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Maula Baksh Chandio would present Legal Prosecutor and Bar Council Bill, 2011 in the Lower House. The Senate already has approved this Bill. The sources said that Minister for Water and Power Syed Naveed Qamar would move the Private Power Infrastructure Board Bill, 2010 for passage to provide for the establishment of Private Power and Infrastructure Board, as reported by the Standing Committee.
The government placed 'the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (Regulation and Enforcement) Bill, 2011 for introduction in the agenda items of the House in the previous session of the National Assembly but the government could not introduce it in the House at the time. It is likely to be placed in the forthcoming session.
The sources said that Finance Minister Dr Abdul Hafeez Sheikh is likely to introduce 'The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (Regulation and Enforcement) Bill', 2011 in the House for regulation and enforcement provisions for the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan.
Ms Nuzhat Sadiq of PML-N is likely to present a call attention notice regarding closure of CNG stations for 3 days in a week in Punjab, causing immense difficulties for the public. The opposition parties would raise the issues of load shedding, price hike, Karachi target killings and the issue of non-implementation of the decisions of apex court in the upcoming session of the National Assembly. According to a handout issued from the Presidency, President Asif Ali Zardari has summoned the National Assembly to meet on Monday August 1, 2011 at 3.00 pm. The President signed the summoning order today (Thursday) on the advice of the Prime Minister.
