Durable peace in the region could not be attained without resolution of Kashmir dispute, which India was delaying over the last 60 years, said Chairman Special Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir Maulana Fazl ur Rahman, here on Thursday.
Maulana was reacting to the recent statement of Indian Prime Minister in which he desired to have breakfast at Amritsar, lunch at Lahore and dinner at Kabul.
"We do want peace in Indo-Pak sub-continent. Pakistan and India should be good neighbours. People of both countries have trust and friendship. Contact between the neighbouring countries should be at the level that people could have breakfast, lunch and dinner in each other's countries. But this all would only happen if Kashmir Dispute is resolved," he said.
The chairman said India was hampering the settlement of Kashmir Dispute and playing delaying tactics despite Pakistan's strong commitment to resolve it. "Kashmir Dispute needs seriousness," Maulana said, adding Indian leadership glossed over this important issue and beat about the bush.
Urging Indian leadership to focus on Kashmir Dispute, Maulana said resolution of this core dispute was vital for good Pak-India ties.
Commenting on recently held Pak-India dialogue, Maulana said there were hopes that progress would be made on Kashmir Dispute. The chairman felicitated newly elected AJK PM Chaudhry Abdul Majeed, Sr. Minister Chaudhry M. Yasin, Speaker Ghulam Sadiq and Dy. Speaker Shaheen Dar. He hoped the new AJK government would play its positive role in the freedom of Kashmir. He assured the new AJK government of all out co-operation by the Special Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir.
