The Syndicate of Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) has approved the affiliation of Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) graduate and post-graduate colleges with QAU. 155th meeting of the QAU Syndicate, the highest decision-making body of the university held on Saturday under the chairmanship of Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Masoom Yasinzai. The meeting discussed almost 45 agenda items in detail and took important policy decisions.
Under the current arrangement these colleges are affiliated with the University of Punjab which being remote and administratively complex does not suite these colleges. The syndicate has also approved the composition of a committee to finalise the financial, administrative and organisational modalities to affiliate these colleges with QAU.
Dr Yasinzai said the affiliation of federal colleges with QAU would certainly enhance their capability to produce quality students. "The major motive of the university to affiliate these colleges is to produce quality stuff for itself," he added. He said taking Pakistan forward by providing an affordable international level education to students from all corners of the country, creating inter-provincial harmony and providing solutions through research relevant to the national needs is the vision of QAU.
Established in 1967 initially, QAU offered degree programmes in M.Phil and PhD but later it launched Masters level courses in 1970. The university also successfully launched BS (4 years) programme last year. The syndicate unanimously lauded the efforts of QAU administration for expanding its academic programmes and introducing new disciplines without making any kind of compromise on quality and standard of education.
