Sindh government has allocated an amount Rs 7 billion in the annual budget for education besides introducing a few reforms in education sector; this was stated by Sindh Education Minister, Pir Mazharul Haque. Addressing at the Convocation of Newport Institute of Communications and Economics (NICE) held on Saturday at a local hotel, the minister said that his government is making various measures to improve standard of government schools in the province.
He pointed out that during democratic regime a total of 1,100 ghost schools were detected and their premises have been vacated from local landlords who made them their 'Auta'aq'. He stressed the need to continue democratic process. He said that standard of government schools is still better than a lot more private schools and soon they would also be acceptable to the upper class. He paid glowing tributes to the efforts of Newport Institute's management for elevating the institute to the international level.
He congratulated the students who graduated from Newport and entering into practical life. The Chairman, KITE Ltd and Senator, Abdul Haseeb Khan said on the occasion that Newport Institute is playing a leading role in providing quality education to the middle-class. He assured his every possible assistance to the institute for improving its standard and dissemination of education.-PR
