The Australian and New Zealand dollars were caught in a tight trading range on Friday, failing to gain much momentum after having pared losses on news that Greece was a step closer to securing much needed financial aid. The New Zealand dollar last stood at $0.8131, little changed from late New York levels.
It traded in a slim $0.8124-$0.8159 range, after climbing off an overnight low around $0.8082. On the week, it was up 0.2 percent. The Aussie, managed a slight bounce against the kiwi to NZ$1.2948, from a 10-day low near NZ$1.2880. This still left the Aussie down some 0.8 percent this week.
