US MIDDAY: copper down

Copper lower on Wednesday, failing to extend earlier gains into a two-day rally, as an stronger dollar and more uneven US data spurred investors to seek out safer-havens for their money. In New York, the benchmark September COMEX copper contract dipped 3.45 cents to settle at $4.1390 per lb, closer to the bottom end of its $4.1305 to $4.20 session range.
After the close, it dipped further to $4.1250.
