Tokyo rubber futures slipped on Tuesday as the market continued to worry about global demand, dealers said, adding the tone was bearish after the benchmark failed to finish above the key psychological level of 380 per kg. "That could trigger stop-loss selling again tomorrow and drag prices down," one dealer said. The benchmark rubber contract on the Tokyo Commodity Exchange for November delivery fell 0.2 yen to settle at 379.8 yen ($4.734) per kg.
"Prices were still supported by tight supply and firm Shanghai prices," one dealer said. The most active Shanghai rubber contract for September delivery rose 85 yuan to finish at 32,770 yuan ($5,054.773) per tonne. US crude fell on Monday in volatile trading after a downgrade of Greece's credit rating fed jitters about economic growth and oil supply interruptions buffeted energy markets.
