US MIDDAY: sugar sputters

Sugar futures fizzled out early on Monday on profit-taking and producer sales after raws hit a 7-week high and white sugar touched a 3-month top as port congestion in Brazil and Thailand combined with strong pre-Ramazan cash buying to boost both markets.
New York's July raw sugar contract added 0.15 cent to trade at 25.79 cents per lb at 12:34 pm EDT (1634 GMT). New York's September arabica coffee contract rose 2.65 to trade at $2.65 per lb at 12:39 pm New York's September cocoa futures dropped $14 to finish at $2,968 per tonne.
