World HR Day: Islam teaches us best human rights

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in his message on the International Human Rights Day, said that the objective of observing the day was to highlight the importance of human rights, as Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) gave the universal and forever message of the human rights.
He said Islam teaches us to uphold traditions of civil justice and peace. He said Islam teaches us the best human rights and equality. He said all citizens enjoy equal rights in the Constitution of Pakistan and societies which do not take care of human rights do not survive.
He said provision of human rights is the identity of civilized society and protection of human rights is the top responsibility of the state. He said peace and human rights are connected and respect of human rights can be ensured through tolerance and forgiveness.
Shehbaz Sharif said the Punjab government has taken practical measures to protect human rights and concrete steps have been taken to eliminate forced labour, ensure religious freedom and provision of justice without discrimination. He said that legislation has been done to protect basic rights of women and eliminate harassment at the workplace.
