Islamabad High Court (IHC) rejected on Monday deposed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s application to merge the three references filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) into one.

A two-member bench, comprising Justice Amir Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, gave the decision dismissing the application and will issue a detailed order later, local media reported.

In his application, Sharif had sought to club the Avenfield properties, Flagship Investments and Al-Azizia Mills into one. IHC reserved its verdict on November 24 regarding the plea after hearing arguments from Sharif’s lawyer and NAB’s prosecutor.

Clubbing three references: IHC to announce verdict today

Earlier on Monday morning, an accountability court on Sharif’s counsel Khawaja Harris’s request had adjourned the court proceedings to afternoon regarding the references filed by NAB against Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Captain (retd) Safdar. The court had suspended the trial as it awaited IHC’s decision regarding Sharif’s application.

The court in expected to resume the hearing in a while.
